I took up diving much later in life it was something in the back of my mind I had quite fancied but never got around to doing. At 44 years of age I took my Open Water in Jamaica whilst on summer hols and of course became hooked. All of our future vacations revolved around diving holidays, including the Red Sea but mostly in the Carribean. At the end of every holiday we would say 'would'nt it be nice if we could do this all the time' and then 3 years ago we decided we would. We sold up everything and moved from England to the Carribean. Now 10 years after my Open Water course I am a PADI Master Scuba Diving Trainer and own a dive school and am about to open an exclusive dive resort. It was one of the best decisions of my life and I love it and my eldest grandchild (13 years old) thinks it is really cool to be able to tell his friends his Nan is a diving instructor.

What a fantastic story!
Great to have you on board.
I must admit, having just returned from the conservation trip in Madagascar, I have kind of reached the same decision and am about to embark on the Divemaster course as the first step towards making a career in diving. I kind of realised that there was no better reason to be up at the crack of dawn than to be out on a boat heading off to your favourite dive site.
Wishing you all the best with your centre, and I hope you enjoy sharing your thoughts etc with the rest of us here at DiveBunnie.

hi y'all! Wow Mstd Grandma that's some cool story you have there. Like I said in my 'howdy' post I just got qualified, so its early days for me... not thinking of teaching n stuff at the moment. But I loved the whole thing! Gonna try n do my AOW on my next vacation. Sure makes a change from sitting at a terminal all day!
