Ok so we had a day of turtles today... 3 hawksbill boys, not all the same one either... throughout the day... awesome.
The last one stayed with us for the last 10 mins of our dive, happily munching away on the coral oblivious of the crowd watching him.

Ah sad news today.. well a few days ago actually.
Our celebrity turtle Dave who battled for 7 months against all odds has lost his fight and died a few days ago.
He was already known in the Sharm el Sheikh area before his accident, as he had a distinctive bit of shell missing near his tail. However he became quite a celebrity over the last few months after having come off worse in a collision with a boat propellor. After weeks of care, he was brought back to health and strength and released back into the wild earlier this year.
Many a time he was spotted around the Ras Mohammed National Park, distinctive with his fibre-glass patch on the back of his shell. However over recent weeks he hasn't been looking the best, and last time I saw him, I noticed that he had a considerable amount of algae growing on his shell, implying that he really wasn't moving around all that much.
Well he fought a tough battle, and now, may he rest in peace.
