Soooo… I may as well start it off… I saw five hammerheads and a couple of white tip reef sharks on my 10th dive! ;D Also in that same week, we regularly saw a dozing reef shark (black or white tip… hey it was a shark and I had only just learned to dive!) in the saddle of Jackfish alley in Ras Mohammed. Which was again pretty blindingly spectacular. All of which I think was a little unfair, as I have had over 100 dives since, and have seen nothing larger than a turtle!! Whilst I was truly blown away at the time, I think had I seen any of this now, I really would be ecstatic! Hey ho. You also no doubt already know about the missed whale shark incident on my last trip Ok Buddah, I know you are going to post something here next visit… ;D

hey buddha here! Yes on my last trip to Sharm whilst with Dive Bunny, on the same boat, I elected to do the extra dive due to the fact that I hadn't been able to do the 1st due to a snapped dump valve pull!!!!! Towards the end of the dive I saw one of the guests gesticulating wildly and I wondered what that was all about!!!!! only to see a beautiful 7 meter whale shark gliding past the group , it was about 3 meters away from me....... All I can say is OMG!!!!!!! What an amazing experience, I could not believe my luck..... Neither could alot of the others, some people on the same dive missed it!!!!!! Needless to say I could not stop talking about it for days!!!!! ;D

How can I not have updated this page!!!?
Well, what have I seen this summer? In truth not a huge amount of new stuff, but lots and lots of the regular special appearances that you get in a Red Sea summer. However a few memorable moments are:
Shark and Yolande in August… only 3 guests on an extra dive in the day and who should pass by but the resident tiger shark… awesome! In fact we had the whole reef to ourselves, and practically zero current… amazing dive.
Shark observatory only 2 weeks ago, we saw a couple of devil rays pass us by. Part of the manta family, these guys looked like space ships as they wafted past us with their front end gleaming silver in the sun. Magical moment.
Yesterday on Woodhouse reef whilst on the very top corner saw two massive turtles going about their business and then on the back of Thomas reef in the afternoon we saw another taking a kip in one of the little caves there.
Now I'm going to be on land for a week… what am I going to do? I'm going to get withdrawl symptoms!

Thankfully i've not seen, but sadly, we have a couple Great Whites in our bay, (avila Beach) 3 years ago we had a fatal attack on a swimmer, and that kind of set the precedent. One of my favorite surf spots is only 2 miles south, so posted signs are a weekly visual.
As much as I'd like to wish for them to move on, it is thier home~
