Oh my god! You could call today a challenge! That would be the positive way ahead, or you could say it was a total nightmare!
Either way, the wind was here good n proper today. We had proper waves here in Naama Bay! A very rare sight indeed.
So in my last entry I mentioned warm sunny days. In fact on that day I had even ventured as far as to wear some of my summer shorts. And come Monday (the forecast day of doom, weather wise) I had felt quite stupid turning up with fleecie and coat in hand. Oh the forecast was soooo right! By 11 am, a totally flat, warm day had turned into a bit of a day from hell. The wind had picked up and all of a sudden it was cold!! Not on at all, I was not impressed.
To be honest since then, it has really been one of those weeks, where all the boats huddle on one or two of the only sheltered dive sites. Jostling for moorings, many of which have been torn out by the very wind and swell that we were trying to avoid. Not the best.
I guess we have had a pretty mild winter so far on all accounts, so we were due a really nasty week.
The air temperature has warmed up a bit since Monday and today, out of the breeze it is once again quite warm (which coming from me is a very positive thing).
The sea is still around 22ÂșC and I doubt that it will get any colder than that, it is just the wind chill factor. When you get out of that lovely dive, you are going to want that fleecie and woolly hat (I know it sounds extreme here in the desert, but believe me, it will help you warm up between dives).
I am sure that this will only last a few days and the sun is still out, so if you opt out of doing all the dives, you can always find a sheltered spot on the boat and top up your tan.
