Phew! What a week it has been. Every morning we have had big winds from the North in the morning making conditions miserable for most boats heading out of Sharm. However for once, Tiran was sheltered from these winds, as they were just a few degrees to the East, meaning that the island sheltered our favourite reefs. This time it was Ras Mohammed that was left open and unprotected with major swells resulting in most boats hurrying around the corner to shelter at the Alternatives on the other side of the Sinai. Two days ago, the swell was so strong that the jetty at Naama Bay broke!! One arm is currently completely detatched from the rest of the pontoon. Ooo. The really sad part is that a whole heap polystyrene contained within the structure enabling it to float, was released and ended up in and around Naama Beach. Apparently this stuff literally lasts forever and never completely breaks down. You will be glad to hear, that today, all is calm and, looking out of my window now, Ras Mohammed is a picture of serenity.
