So... a huge thumbs up to my shiny new Aqua Lung Lotus i3 BCD.
It is awesome!
It arrived about three weeks ago now, and since then I have been putting it through its paces on a daily basis. The guys at Aqua Lung were even kind enough to include a traditional corrugated inflator hose so that I can still teach novice divers in it. The inflator system it is supplied with is the i3 touch system, which is a small but sturdy lever which you can use to inflate or deflate accordingly. No more lifting your arm right up to deflate, just press the lever and out the air flows.
Of course most rental kit is still fitted out with the old style hose, so for teaching it is quite important that our kit at least resembles their system. Especially when we are frantically lifting our hoses signalling to our students, that they need to lift it right up, not just a little bit!
Anyway, I have also had a chance to fun dive in it too, and try out the i3 system which I love... as do many of our guests who use the same style of inflator system.
For me the great part was the fit and comfort. With great padding in the back, and adjustable straps, the jacket simply wraps around me like a big hug (hmmm wonder if that is why they call it the "wrapture harness system"?). I places me in a perfectly horizontal position under water, and of course looks super cool in the process.
What more could a girl want?
Want to buy one? Check out the Simply Scuba store, which seems to be the only place stocking it right now
