I thought this might be of interest to both guides in Egypt as well as the guests planning to go out there. In light of the incident that happened last year off the Brothers, the Red Sea diving authorities have issued new regulations regarding the guiding of divers on both liveaboards and day boats in the Red Sea. Many of these are just plain advisable, such as diving in buddy pairs and carrying an SMB, however there are a few new points that have been raised. I wonder whether in reality they do get used. To see the full list, pop along to the following link: Red Sea Boat Rules

Yes I had read this too… whilst I was definitely in favour of 99% of the points raised in the original list, in fact many of them I thought were generally confiriming safe and sensible diving practice. I could also see however that a couple of the points were likely to raise concerns. For a pretty concise explanation of all the rules as they stand, pop along to the Emperor web-site. Happy diving… wish I was in a position for the new rules to be affecting me right now
