I heard that it's ok to breastfeed and dive. Best to express or feed before you dive. I am going to Grand turk Bohio dive resort www.bohioresort.com with my 5 month old son and was wondering if anyone has dived and breast fed? and what their experience was? Happy to hear any thoughts Eliza

Hellooo how are you? How fantastic that you are going diving again! And in such a lovely place. Hmmm. Ok so I am not going to be able to comment on this from personal experience.. But I did find this article on the DAN website: www.diversalertnetwork.org/medical/articles/article.asp?articleid=9It goes into detail about a few women's queries including breast feeding (about halfway down the page) and should hopefully reassure you a bit. Just to fill you in DAN are the main body that research into all sorts of diver related health issues, so would be the first ones to flag any potential problems. I did read about someone's breasts leaking in her drysuit... but where you are going, I doubt that that will be an issue. You might find that your buoyancy has changed a little since you last dived, so do a nice gentle day on your first one, just to settle in again. Enjoy ;D

So I asked some of my girlie dive friends, and the general concensus seems to be that it is best to feed before you dive.. mainly to prevent discomfort during the dive. If you have baby G with you on the boat, that is easily done, if not, then maybe take an express pump with you. Hope that helps

Don't wear a suit that's too tight. There is a small increased chance of mastitis if the flow gets restricted. Massage well between dives if you get any lumps, hot or sore spots

Definitely feed or express before the dive. And after if you need to.
