So… has anyone tried out the new Scubapro Glide Star yet? I have tried the Seaquest Diva- very comfy, am curious to know how the Glide Star fares in comparison. lol the scubydoo

Can't say that I've tried it myself (my chest isn't really big enough to warrant it) but have had a look at it and seems just as good as the Diva quality wise. Recent purchase though was a pair of Scubapro twinspeed fins, was quite reluctant to try them at first as I thought they were just a gimmick.....Have to say that I am now converted.....Really does work as they claim....less effort, more power.TEXTTEXTTEXT

Ok so this thread has gone a little quiet, but I would like to see hear your opinions on the women's BCs that are now available.
I dive with a Seaquest Diva, which I find great, however it has been pointed out that it does tend to push you face forward in the water when on the surface… not ideal if, God forbid, you found yourself unconscious at the surface.
I would love to hear which BC you guys use.
I found the Scubapro Glidestar was just too long in the body… maybe that just means I am a short arse… who knows.

Hiya, thought I would blow some bubbles at this one...
I adore the diva, it is soooo comfy underwater and moulds totally into the body - useful to have a bc that feels like a part of you rather than yet another bit of random and bulky kit you have to deal with, whether you are inexperienced and just getting used to it all, or DMT having heart failure with too much else to deal with (Divebunnie and I did our kit-swap in ours, and it definitely helped us out that they are so easy to use!). It also has nice big pockets and enough D rings to attach stuff to without getting too hardcore teccy-bloke-ish!
On the downside, see DB's comments on its tendancy to float you face-down - though it's one of the new dragonfly type half wing designs, and I'm told they all do this (would welcome anyone elses view on whether this is the case? And do straight, traditional tec wings do it too?)
It's also heavy (think due to gel padding down the back and its generally solid build), though I have dragged it back and forth out to sharm enough times, and when added to the weight of all your other kit (plus high heels and bikinis!) don't think this is a massive consideration.
And not that this is relevant to its general performance - but its also a rather good wonderbra - chucked it on with just bikini underneath to tie some lines and couldn't understand why everyone was staring at me - until looked down at my chest and saw rather spectacular cleavage staring back at me - anyone who has seen my distinctly unimpressive decolletage will know this is quite an achievement ;D
As for the glide star, I found it a hideously uncomfortable shape, far too long in the body for me as well, and I'm definitely not a short arse! (fall more into the oversized beanpole category instead!). Has anyone found it anywhere near fits them, or have Scuba-pro dropped the ball on this one??
Luv and warm water,
Sabre

Wow fantastic apparaisal there Sabre, cheers.
I will agree with you on the glidestar, I think Scubapro forgot that women tend to have shorter bodies! Anyone out there who wants to stand up and say their thing in favour of it… I have met people who seem quite happy with their Glidestar, so there must be something good going on.
Sabre is right with regards to the wing issue, Because all the lift is at the back, in the wing itself, you do tend to get held face down… great whilst underwater, not so great if you were unconscious at the surface.
Let us know if you have yet another women's bc… they are all coming out with them now. Fantastic… we even have a choice now!

Hi, new to the site and looking for some advice! I've been told to try a Diva, but am unsure when ordering what size to go for. Clotheswise, I'm usually a size 10, but can be anywhere between an 8 and a 12, depending on which shop it is! Is it better to go on the small or big side with BCDs?

Hey Ellen,
Good advice to take, buying the Diva, it is ssoooo comfy.
As for size, I am a size 8 and have the size small. Had I known that they have extra small, I would have gone for that one for sure. They do have an adjustable cummer bund though, so you can adjust it to fit.
It would also depend on what kind of suit you wear, if it is a wetsuit, I would go for the extra small, but if you have a dry suit, you might want a little more room.
Hope that helps. How about popping into a shop to try one on? I am guessing you are planning to buy on line.

Just wanted to point out the reviews of 8 new BCDs for women in the August issue of Scuba Diving magazine. I found it really helpful as I am in the market. Any thoughts about booties and fins would be most welcome. Cheers, DocRoc
