Sad news indeed. we are filling up our planet like one big trash can. when will we ever learn. Buuut I spose every little counts, so do your bit for the environment and at the very least don't litter, and take it all one step further, re-use your stuff and recycle what you can

Back to waterbabe's message.. I have some of those bags! I have a great ASDA canvas one, but best of all is the Matalan bright pink one that looks dead cool. I also have a great couple of green shopping bags from Pick n Pay in South Africa where you have to pay if you want a plastic bag. And even better, the profits from the sale of these shopping bags goes towards making play grounds for children. All good stuff.

Here's a good site on facebook. See if you can avoid using plastic bags. Every bag that you don't use is a step in the right direction.

Could there be a glimmer of hope? Today I had a shopkeeper comment on my jute re-useable shopping bag asking me where I bought it (Asda in the UK). He even said how good it was that I was using it as the plastic ones are really bad! Woo Hoo!! I have been feeling like the local nutter lately as I have patiently explained to each shop keeper why I don't want to use their nasty plastic bags, in my broken Arabic. So maybe at last... we have a glimmer of hope. Once the people in charge of giving out the bags start to realise their impact, then maybe we can take small steps to turn things around..
