Well, Ok I am not able to comment hugely on this one,
however I have been along to a few dive sites and can certainly see that some stand out among the crowd. Take the new National Diving Centre for example. Ok it may be a little deep for the novices, however they certainly have the facilities to cope with any potential problems of the more experienced diver. I would imagine it could be the ideal in-land place to do your extended range training.

I am on the brink of investing in my first dry suit, so I shall be sure to tell you what I think after my first dip in the local stuff. It will probably be somewhere as delightful as Wraysbury quarry, (they do have fish there, we have recently discovered!) however at some point I aim to be off the Cornish coast marvelling at the basking sharks. (if I am very very very lucky, that is!) 8-)

I have finally purchased my dry suit, and broke my UK diving cherry.

Admittedly it was only in a small quarry off the M25, but it certainly was a step in the right direction... I may even be in time for the Autumn basking shark migration in Cornwall yet.

As for UK waters, the colour lime green comes to mind!!!! I was lucky, it was a very sunny day and the vis was not too bad... for England. The worst was around 3M and the best around 6M. We even saw fish too! Some really quite impressive pike and carp, together with a little shoal of perch and several jack pike. It is amazing how good it is to see even one fish, when you are diving in such a sparcely populated patch of water. Aside from the few fish we saw, there were hundreds of tiny tiny shrimpy things too, which were quite cool to watch as they scrabbled around in the algae filled murk.

I will certainly do it again, though maybe I was a little spoit, with the water temperature being well above normal and the sun being out, most unlike England really. So I may have more to say after a grey dive on a grey day... ;D

Rather you than me! I like to see fish when I dive. Or see anything! I did my open water in April in the UK and... NEVER AGAIN! It was like diving in pea soup, I'm amazed I passed and now its only warm water for me.

Confirmed UK diver here. Cold? Yes it can be! Low viz? Yes it can be. No fish - no never. There are always plenty of fish around (well in the sea there are!). So why do I do it? It's glorious, it's challenging, it's awesome and it's diving. Having just spent a fabulous week at Dive Bunnie HQ and seen everything from Hammerheads off Jackson to teeny weeny stuff on Ras Mo I'm still pathetically excited at the thought of diving here tomorrow!

It's the thrill of the wrecks and the rush from seeing the marine life I love. In my book blue water is fantastic, but green is great too!

Absolutely.. I love that lime green glow, seriously it's a very cool colour.

One day I will get my act together and when in the UK, get into the sea and do some proper UK stuff.. sadly my only experience of UK diving so far was in Wraysbury... and one of the dives I did was very pretty, with lots of cool jack pikes, a big pike (that I had mistaken for a large log!) and being a sunny day, the pond weed looked great.. like fairy lights... and no I wasn't narked as we were only about 5m deep!!

OK joking aside, if it local and it gets you wet, then surely it's better to dive than not? Am I right?
