26th Dec Yep it was the calm before the storm.. « Result #2 on Dec 26, 2009, 8:43am »
Oh yes, again Windfinder was right... Monday was the calm, Tuesday was the storm!
We had some really hefty winds on Tuesday, however thankfully they were from the normal Northerly direction unlike last week's freak Westerly that caused the Emperor boat Frazier to come a cropper and sink at the Dunraven!
When the wind is in its usual Northerly direction, it can make things a bit swelly and lumpy (especially in Tiran) however usually you can find somewhere to shelter. When it turns Southerly, we are scuppered a Westerly wind means that Dunraven and Thistlegorm are no fun
Anyway, all that is over, and we have glorious flat seas once again, and throughout it all, the sun has continued to shine gloriously!
Enjoy the rest of your holidays... hope you had a merry if a bit chilly (for some) Christmas.

21st December... calm before the storm?? « Result #5 on Dec 21, 2009, 12:43pm »
Well we have glorious blue skies, sunshine and flat seas today. A truly lovely day in Sharm.
However, not wanting to be a harbinger of doom, tomorrow looks a little on the bleak side. No clouds or anything, but take a look at this... any wind in double figures makes for choppy waters looks like it might be an interesting day tomorrow.
Thankfully I won't be in the water.. welcome meetings for me.. hmmm I vaguely remember last time I was up that way when there was a strong Northerly wind.. we got caught up in a sandstorm! Think I will take my camera... watch this space for pickies

December 18th another day.. another climate! « Result #6 on Dec 19, 2009, 11:08am »
Well, nearly.
What a difference.. in just 24 hours we went from violent westerly winds, grey skies (in Sharm!?) and rough seas, to glorious sunshine, barely a breeze, and flat flat calm, blue seas once again. Even the visibility underwater was crystal clear.. surprising it had all settled so quickly. The only hint of big winds yesterday was the rather large ridges caused in the sand by the swell that had been battering the coast yesterday. Usually at 6m the sand is flat, totally unaffected by the pathetic ripples we call waves. Today the bottom was covered with foot wide ridges carved out by yesterday's wavey stuff.

December 17th fog n wind?? In Sharm? « Result #8 on Dec 17, 2009, 6:23am »
Ok so maybe I am exaggerating with the fog! It is just very hazy, so much so that I can't see across the bay to Ras Mohammed
It is also blowing up a breeze in from the West. When the wind is in the normal direction (from the North) our home is completely sheltered... today the trees are being a bit battered.
